Based in West London, Void are DJs/programmers Chantelle Platter
and Kim Robinson. Under the names Blade and Siren they have
been DJing partners for 6 years and have played together as
Void since 1995. Previously, they've released two 12" singles,
one from 1995 on an obscure Czech imprint (tiny label, but
very heavy vinyl) and another on their own Void label. A full
length CD/LP will follow in late '99.
Having
met through the network of free parties in the early nineties,
both were drawn towards the sounds emerging from the pioneers
of experimental techno. Playing out together in London (V-FM,
SW1, Turnmills) it was their increasing frustration with the
dilution of leftfield techno by the mainstream that drove
them to europe on a mission for purity.
Playing
and partying across the continent, they returned to the UK
fuelled by all the right noises. Discovering on their return
that the scene had barely progressed, they built a studio
from scratch and locked themselves away for two years, learning
and trying new combinations throughout.
