Mr. Len is currently working on commissioning a video for a track from ‘Pity The Fool....’ It will definitely NOT be the initial proposal that was based around getting busted having a party in his parents’ house. I think we’ll leave that one to Kid ’n’ Play. Watch the Matador site for copius free MP3’s from ‘Pity The Fool’ in the upcoming weeks, including luminary MC’s like Chubb Rock, Jean Grae, Massinfluence, Mr. Live and Kice of Course. Other MC’s on the album will include D-stroy, Q-Unique, Steady Roc, Lord Sear, Murs and Amplifire. ‘Pity The Fool: Experiments in Therapy Behind the Mask of Music While Handing Out Dummy Smacks.’ In stores October 23.

Mr Len = Peavey Power
Mr. Len has secured a sponsorship deal with the Peavey corporation. To kick this relationship off, he will be spinning records in the Peavey booth at the Winter NAMM (National Assoc of Music Merchants) Trade Show at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA from January 18-21.

I had never heard of NAMM before, but this is what it says on their website:

“Twice a year, the International Music Products Association hosts the NAMM Show, the premier trade show for the music industry. The NAMM trade show welcomes retail music store buyers, manufacturers, manufacturers’ representatives, distributors and publishers of the music products industry, professional audio, sound and lighting companies and commercial recording studios. NAMM is a 100-year-old organization with over 6000 members. NAMM’s winter and summer shows regularly feature over 1100 exhibitors and over 60,000 attendees at each show.”

One of our label presidents has attended NAMM before, and says the vibe is “very Bill & Ted,” though presumably it will be less so with Mr. Len doing his thing.

Len will also be demonstrating the new Peavey mixer at the American DJ Awards show in Anaheim that same week.

Matador Salutes CMJ The Only Way We Know How: By Charging You Money To Stand In A Crowded Room
The following artists will be playing Matador’s CMJ-related event (we refuse to call it a “showcase” on the grounds that showcases suck. All of them.)

MC Paul Barman
Live Human
The Wisdom Of Harry (U.S. debut)
Pole
Bardo Pond

This massive event will take place Friday evening, October 20th at the Westbeth Theatre on the beautiful lower west side of Manhattan. The between-performance DJ chores will be handled by Mr. Len. All of those in paying attendence will receive a commemorative gift (which may or may not be a ticket stub, depending on our production schedule).

You might recall that several years ago, we celebrated a CMJ-related event by handing out a 7" single box set of unreleased tracks by the evening’s performers, under the catchy title “The Robert Haber Memorial Box Set.” Well, as it turned out, Mr. Haber, the esteemed publisher of CMJ, was not actually deceased. He wasn’t even sick. Imagine our embarrassment. Anyhow, we’d like to apologize to Mr. Haber, his friends and family, and anyone who might’ve been misled by our error. We couldn’t afford a fact-checker back then, but hey, neither can most of the magazines that write about our bands.

Mr. Len will be hitting the road hard over the next few weeks, heading first to South Africa as a DJ for What? What? before heading out in the States as a DJ for the Juggaknots. Also on that tour are Big Daddy Kane, Prince Paul and others. Check the tour dates section for full details.

Can anyone answer the musical question "why don't you go play hide-and-go-fuck-yourself?" Probably not, as this is really a rhetorical question. But the upcoming Mr. Len 12", "What The Fuck," featuring the MC skills of Mr. Live, will provide answers for questions we haven't even thought of yet. The flipside, "Straight Up," features Q-Unique of the Arsonists.

Coming sooner than later. On March 21 a new 12" from Company Flow's Mr. Len, "What The Fuck." This one features the vocal stylings of Mr. Live, of Get These fame. The suspense is killing us, too.
